Hello Readers,
The link for today's post gave me a lot to digest regarding what it means to be humble. The sermon alone stirs my heart with both passion and pragmatism. In addition, one of the joys that was shared, along with the date on the calendar, stirred my memory and guided me to recognize an example of walking humbly with our God (Micah 6:8). My sister states the joy that she will be making a presentation. What she doesn't say, and maybe she doesn't know herself yet, is that her recent writings, at the time, will be recognized among professors in her field. Here's the example: a rural church was presented with a sermon by a recognized author and presenter on the topic of humility.
Where are Mom and Dad? It is the fall of 2007, a time that marks 50 years since both my parents and my aunt (mom's sister) and uncle were married. Cheers to happy memories (prompted by the recording), such as the wedding of my cousin, where many of my extended family and I gathered around this time.
As is well illustrated in the sermon, to humbly give and to humbly receive is greatly nuanced. How can letting someone give to you make you humble? I witnessed this first-hand when one sister gave the other her spare kidney. I honestly can not choose who was doing the more humble act. I do know I am equally thankful to my two and only two sisters for both the giving and the receiving. Sitting in the waiting room was a difficult moment in my life and also one of my most proud, I am humbly proud.
Stay well.
Thanks for reading,
Amy BH
"Humble? 'Humble' has two meanings. It means 'not proud' and it means 'near the ground.' That's Wilbur all over. He's not proud and he's near the ground".
"And in an ordinary barn, an ordinary pig, a runt no less, stood surrounded by friends, welcoming his second spring. And that spring was followed by many, many more. All because someone stopped to see the grace, and beauty, and nobility, of the humblest creature".
