59' Hymn Take My Hand and Lead Me Father
Hello Readers,
My family is taking extra time to ponder and support one another as we remember mom deeply as 90 years ago today mom was born and a year ago yesterday, as a friend of mine said, mom changed her address...two important dates only a day apart.
In my sister's message I am struck by her explanation of belief. She says it could be stated [paraphrased] you already are believing -- in other words take heart you already are believing that I will be back. Waiting is hard, trusting is hard. My sister mentions how transitions are difficult for all us, (not just toddlers). My two sisters and I met via Zoom last week and easily listed several ways our lives had changed or had been challenge just in the last year. If I choose to cling to my sister's sermon advice I can trust, believe, and know that I already am believing that all be ok and is ok.
This past Saturday I watched the Olympic Ice Skating Gala - after competing against each other the medal winners along with other popular skaters are chosen to perform. Two highlights for me were from Niina Petrokina from Estonia who performed Cell Block Tango (other skaters had cameos) and the men's underdog gold medalist, Mikhail Shaidorov from Kazakhstan, who left the commentators speachless with his Panda Skate
By far the biggest highlight came at the end. I noticed after the final performance the women's gold medalist rushed off the ice. As I continued to watch I realized that there was more to come. One by one each skater reentered the rink and began to skate around to Cold Play's When I Ruled the World eventually a circle was created on the inside edge of the rink allowing the crowd and each other to clap and cheer as each performed quickly one last time on Olympic Ice. What other moment bridges sports and the arts? As I write this I am brought to tears for the beauty of both the skating and the unity and hope for humanity that was created in that arena...I believe and I already am believing that all will be ok and is ok.
Thanks for reading.
Stay well,
AmyBH
