Paul's message is clear, all are slaves...-who is the master? Sin: all the forces that are not God. Sister says she has wrestles what sin is and what it means to be its slave. Sin is first mentioned not with Adam and Eve but with their son Cain when he was downcast, and God says sin is crouching at his [Cain's] door. What do we do to be truly free with a new master?

Dear Readers,

Dad mentions the harvest, which reminds me of my family's time in Idaho. Southern Idaho is known for the potato. Where my husband and I lived and where our children were born was in the northern panhandle. This area is referred to as Palouse hills country noting the region's landscape that is full of steep sloping fields. These fields contain rich soils good for growing barley, wheat, and lentils. We had friends who were farmers and we enjoyed hearing their stories and visiting their homes. It was a beatuful and unique place to live and will always hold a special place in my heart both for the landscape and for the people who helped shape and support me during those early years of my life as an adult.

Sister's sermon is thought-provoking, she lists the deadly sins and definitions. I feel challenged to work on my tendacy towards envy. One way to keep this in check is to remind myself of all that brings me gratitute, a more positive perspective.

Stay well.

Thanks for reading,

AmyBH
