It Is Well With My Soul
Around 27 Minutes - My sister mentions that Dad is gone due to needeing medicine for a sinus infection. "...but lungs seems to be clear..." that statement is alarming to hear due to Dad's lack of lung capacity leading to his need for oygen during his last month in 2013. Other than hearing violin and maybe piano I didn't note any other possible family involvement.
Hello Readers,
Happy end of 2025, I spent yesterday with my husband cooking a huge turkey dinner and am now enjoying a refrigerator full of leftovers.
Looking at the church service date I realized it took place on a dear childhood friend (SB's) 40th birthday. We are no longer in touch other than that I hear from her mom from time to time on social media and through cards. SB was the friend down the street, we played Barbies, we did make-up and hair together. She could keep-up on a sled without getting cold. She could swim and loved it as much as I did. She loved to eat chips and/or ice-cream (even if it meant sneaking it from our parents' homes). She was tall - I was short. By every sense of the word she was my first best friend.
She alwas loved horses and by high school she had her own that she financed herself. I love imagining her life, too busy for social media, activly caring for her animals with her husband.
Speaking of active, one of my favorite memories involves SB and my dad. One summer, I would guess were were around 7, she and I had taken over my basement, turning it into an olympic gymnastic training facility. In our minds this was super secret. Looking back as an adult, I see it differently. Everything we did involved a lot giggling and shreeking. Nothing could have been very secret given the size of the modest ranch home. On this particular day, Dad discovered us as we were running and leaping over the arm of our our couch as if it was the vault event. I thought sure in that moment we were done for, suprisingly things took a turn. Instead of scolding us, he showed us. Suddenly coach HNB appeared and went into teaching mode. We were now the students, learning from his college tumbling class. Thankfully these lessons were complete with coach demonstrations on correct hand placement and form. A great day indeed.
Thanks for reading.
Stay well,
Amy BH
