Leaning on the Ever Lasting Arms

Hello Readers,

I have something I want to share today that isn't related to the service other than it's about people and learning to know yourself and others and how we feel and love. I have shared about The Enneagram in one of my other Blog series, in 2020 I went through a deep phase of discovery with it. This week I  decided to revisiting it. My original introduction came mostly through a composer/podcaster who wrote a song for each of the 9 Enneagrams. He along with a friend and author do a wonderful job of breaking down each of the types into approachable and relatable parts. If memory serves me right I listened to all nine types/podcast episodes before I took a test to verify my type. After I listened to them all I wanted to be a four and the test I took said I was. It is hard for me to accept that I am a four but when I listen to the song I relate to it deeply, especially the ending. The Sleeping At Last Podcast - scroll to find One, Two, Three -- through Nine -- the titles of the Nine Enneagram related podcasts and their songs, also available on Spotify and other venues. I would start with One as it has an introduction that is important to hear first.

The 4 is often called the Individualist - in grad school I took a test called the StrenghtsQuest (CliftonStrengths Assessment) and one of my personalities is Individualization. I enjoy observing and realizing the strengths of others and how they fit into the larger group or setting. When I listen to the podcast above I think of those I know best and ponder their personalities as well as my own. I can relate to aspects of each type as I imagine we all can. I don't mean to decide what their dominate type is (unless they have shared it with me) as only they can confirm that for themselves. I let The Enneagram guide me in love and grace for us all. The Enneagram has been a helpful tool for me, I listen and learn about it in my way and others will do it their way - I am in a season of finding it helpful and it is ok if you are not, grace to all.

Thanks for reading.

Stay well,

Amy BH
